Orphan Care

We believe that God has been preparing us to make the plight of abandoned children in Puebla an important part of our ministry.  Carrie's own adoption and experience teaching poor children with disabilities have brought these needs to our attention.  Adopting our children from Guatemala and the many mission trips to Latin America has burdened our hearts for children who do not know the love of our Heavenly Father.

Our dear friends from seminary Kevin and Andrea Bult (Camino missionaries) have been faithfully building relationships with children in local orphanages for several years now.  Our plan is to join in their vision to start a Christ-centered orphanage in Puebla. Go.Be.Hope, an extension of Lost Orphans International, has made two vision trips to Puebla (July 2011 & June 2012) to explore how they may assist in starting this new work. They are able to provide personnel to love the children and even help with construction when the time comes.

The need is great.  It's estimated that there are between 143 million and 210 million orphans worldwide.  The current population of the United States is just a little over 315 million… to give you an idea of the enormity of the numbers… that's 1/2 to 2/3 the population of America.  In all of Latin America only Brazil has more orphans than Mexico. Currently there are 1.6 million identified orphans in Mexico.

We need your prayers as we move forward with this exciting ministry opportunity.  Please pray that the many logistical details will begin to fall into place. Maybe we'll see you visiting us in Mexico helping to share the love of Christ with those who have no earthly family. Please pray that even now God will protect and prepare the hearts of the children we look forward to ministering to when we arrive in Mexico.
